Reporting points that must be reported to ATC (air traffic control). They are designated on aeronautical charts by solid triangles or filed in a flight plan as fixes selected to define direct routes. These points are geographical locations defined by navigation aids or fixes. Pilots should discontinue reporting compulsory reporting points when informed by ATC that their aircraft is in “radar contact.” The number of compulsory reporting points should be minimized. Routine reporting of compulsory reporting points should not be mandatory for all flights in all circumstances.
